Expansion MRR Growth Rate

Expansion Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) Growth Rate measures how quickly your existing customers are increasing their spending with you, expressed as a percentage of your total MRR base. This metric captures the velocity of revenue expansion from upsells, cross-sells, add-ons, and seat expansions within your current customer cohort. While typically reported monthly (e.g., "Our Expansion MRR Growth Rate was 4.2% in March"), it can also be annualised for strategic planning purposes (e.g., "We achieved a 65% annual Expansion MRR Growth Rate last year"). This metric is fundamentally different from simple expansion revenue totals because it contextualises growth against your entire revenue base, making it particularly valuable for benchmarking and forecasting as your business scales.

First Contact Resolution Rate

First Contact Resolution Rate (FCR Rate) is the percentage of customer support contacts resolved on the first interaction, with no follow-up required from the agent or customer. A high FCR Rate reduces support costs, lowers repeat contact volume, and improves customer satisfaction.

First Contact Resolution Tickets

First Contact Resolution Tickets is the count of support tickets fully resolved on the first agent interaction, with no follow-up contact required from the customer.

Full Resolution Time

Full Resolution Time is the time duration between the ticket creation date and the ticket solved or closed date. Along with a solution that helps the customer and solves the problem, the less time it takes to get to a resolution is good for you and good for the customer. Resolution time is usually measured in hours or days.

Gross MRR Churn Rate

Gross Monthly Recurring Revenue Churn Rate (Gross MRR Churn Rate) is the percentage of recurring revenue lost due to both cancellation and downgrades. Note that it is common to express this metric as a monthly rate, though it can also be expressed as Gross ARR Churn Rate.

Gross Revenue Retention Rate

Gross Revenue Retention (GRR) Rate is the percentage of recurring revenue retained from existing customers in a defined time period, including downgrades, and cancels. It does not include any expansion revenue. GRR is also commonly referred to as Gross Renewal Rate.

Monthly Active Accounts

Monthly Active Accounts is the count of unique accounts with at least one active user in a given month. It measures platform engagement at the account level, tracking how many accounts are actively using an application or service each month.

Monthly Active Users

Monthly Active Users (MAU) is the count of unique users who interact with an application or platform at least once in a given month. MAU tracks engagement across both new and returning users, and serves as an early indicator of retention risk or growth momentum. Unique users are identified by username, email address, or user ID. Both paying and non-paying users count, including those on free trials.

Net MRR Churn Rate

Net Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) Churn Rate is the percentage change in MRR from existing customers due to expansions, cancellations, and downgrades. A negative Net MRR Churn Rate occurs when expansions exceed downgrades and cancellations and is a strong positive indicator of company health. This metric is typically expressed as a monthly rate, although it can also be calculated as an annual rate: Net Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) Churn Rate.

Net Promoter Score

Net Promoter Score (NPS®) is a measure of a customer base's willingness to promote a product or service to colleagues and friends. It is based on the results of a current customer survey, which asks respondents to answer the following question: “how likely is it that you would recommend (brand or product X) to a friend or colleague?” Responses, with 10 being the highest, are grouped as follows: 10s and 9s are brand ‘Promoters’, 8s and 7s are ‘Neutrals’, and any responses below 7 are brand ‘Detractors’.

Net Revenue Retention Rate

Net Revenue Retention (NRR) Rate, also known as Net Dollar Retention (NDR), is the percentage of recurring revenue retained from existing customers in a defined time period, including expansion revenue, downgrades, and cancels. This churn metric gives a comprehensive view of positive as well as negative changes with respect to customer retention.

Onboarding Calls

Onboarding Calls is the number of calls made to welcome new customers into a product, used as a leading indicator of engagement and long-term retention. Teams track this metric to ensure new customers are supported from day one and on track to activate and renew.
