3 Second Video Views
3 Second Video Views counts the number of times your video ad was played for 3 seconds or more. It does not usually include replays that take place before a video has been viewed for at least 3 seconds.
Abandoned Checkout Rate
Abandoned Checkout Rate measures the share of checkout sessions that begin but do not end in a completed order. It focuses on the checkout funnel only, not the cart. You use it to understand friction after a shopper clicks “Checkout,” including issues with shipping choices, payment, taxes, and form friction. A high rate points to lost revenue and poor user experience during the last steps before purchase.
Active Users
Active Users in GA4 represents the number of distinct users who engaged with your website or app during a specified time period. A user is considered "active" when they trigger an engagement session, which occurs when they stay on your site for 10 seconds or longer, have a conversion event, or have 2 or more page or screen views. This metric provides a foundational understanding of your audience size and engagement levels, replacing the traditional "Users" metric from Universal Analytics with a more engagement-focused approach. Unlike simple visitor counts, Active Users emphasises meaningful interaction with your content, filtering out users who immediately bounce or show no genuine interest in your site. This makes it a more reliable indicator of your actual engaged audience size.
Ad Revenue
Ad Revenue is a digital marketing metric that measures the total amount of money generated from ads displayed on your website or in your app. This includes revenue from third-party sources as well as Google AdMob.
Add-to-Cart Rate
Add-to-Cart Rate measures the share of sessions in which at least one product is added to a shopping cart. It shows how effectively your product pages and browse experiences move visitors toward purchase intent. Track it to spot friction on product detail pages, evaluate merchandising and offers, and compare buyer intent across channels, devices, and audiences.
Advertising Exposure
Ad unit exposure measures the total amount of time your ad was exposed to your target audience, usually measured in milliseconds.
Average Basket Size
Average Basket Size (ABS) is an ecommerce metric that measures the average number of items purchased per transaction. It is calculated by dividing the total number of units sold by the total number of transactions over a given period. ABS helps businesses understand whether customers are buying more or fewer items each time they place an order. Average Basket Size is also a key input for calculating Average Order Value (AOV) when combined with Average Selling Price (ASP), helping teams distinguish whether revenue changes are driven by quantity, pricing, or both.
Average Engagement Time
Average Engagement Time is a user-centric metric in Google Analytics 4 that measures the average amount of time individual users spend actively engaged with your website or app. Unlike traditional session-based metrics, this focuses on user behaviour across all their interactions, providing a more holistic view of how deeply users connect with your content. The metric only counts time when users are genuinely engaged, defined as sessions lasting 10 seconds or longer, containing conversion events, or having multiple page/screen views. This metric represents a significant shift from Universal Analytics' session-duration approach, offering a more accurate picture of meaningful user interaction by filtering out brief, low-quality visits that don't represent genuine engagement.
Average Session Duration
Average Session Duration measures the average amount of time users spend per session on your website. It is calculated by dividing the total time spent across all sessions by the total number of sessions. This metric helps you understand overall engagement and whether users are consuming your content in a meaningful way.
Average Time on Page
Average Time on Page is a web analytics metric that measures the average time all users spend on a single page, excluding exit pages and bounces. Exit pages are the last pages in a session; bounces are single-page sessions. Because the metric excludes these, it reflects only engaged, multi-page visits.
Cart Abandonment Rate
Cart Abandonment Rate is the percentage of shopping sessions in which a visitor adds at least one item to a cart but leaves without completing a purchase. It quantifies mid-funnel friction and helps you pinpoint checkout blockers, pricing or shipping concerns, and gaps in product detail clarity. Track it over time and by segment to understand where intent stalls and which fixes move the needle.
Content Engagement
For content and social media marketers, Content Engagement may be one of the most important ways to know what is working and how to improve your craft. Content Engagement measures all engagements resulting from content generated in a social media account including shares, reactions (e.g., likes), comments, and re-tweets. These metrics are considered the most important when looking at the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns and overall strategy
